A very warm welcome to our community
Sion-Manning Catholic Girls’ School is a well established comprehensive school for girls, with our mixed sixth form at St. Charles Catholic Sixth form College which is on our shared site. We are a short walk from Ladbroke Grove Underground Station. The school and sixth form are situated in St. Charles Square. Our buildings are un-dergoing refurbishment and modernisation which will offer your daughter state of the art facilities.
We are proud of our diverse community which is a reflection of the community we serve. Ours is a Catholic school but we welcome girls of all faiths and of no faith. We have strong links with our local com-munity in North Kensington.
With only 120 students admitted into each year group, Sion-Manning is relatively small. This is a major strength as it enables us to get to know our students as individuals quickly, teach in small groups and ensure every student enjoys coming to school and challenges them-selves to achieve their best.
We aim to insure that the transition from Primary to Secondary school is as stress free as possible. Students are allocated to four smaller groups and a strong pastoral and care system helps the students to feel at home quickly. You as parents are integral to that process, all parents receive regular updates via text, email, the school website and Parent Evenings where you can discuss your daughter’s progress with her teachers.
A committed staff deliver the curriculum so that all students are able to learn and achieve to the very best of their ability. Our GCSE results are just below the National Average but are improving. Class sizes are often below twenty enabling those who need the addition-al support to receive it. Students are taught in ability groups in core subjects in Years 7—9 and then follow a two year GCSE course. There is an exciting and varied programme of extracurricular and enrichment activities which run outside school hours, including residential trips.
We seek to ensure that, with Christ’s love for all as her example and inspiration, every student
receives the education and guidance that will enable her to achieve her true academic potential,
realise her personal ambitions and help her to develop spiritually and contribute fully to our society.
Sion-Manning is a Catholic school whose ethos derives from Jesus Christ and from which safe and
caring environment students can go forward to take their place in society as well educated,
confident and independent young women.
Christ, is the foundation of everything that we do, and the Gospels provide us with His influence and
inspiration. We are therefore committed to promoting:
1. The uniqueness and value of each individual
We believe that every person is a unique individual created in God’s image and loved by Him.
Accordingly, we are committed to treating every person in this school equally with the respect due
to a child of God.
2. The fulfilment of each individual’s potential
We ensure the provision for our young people of an education, which will enable them to develop
fully their talents, whether academic, sporting, artistic or spiritual, and for those adults in our care
the necessary support and training to ensure that they too achieve their true potential.
3. The building of a community
We educate our students as members of a community founded on Gospel values and working in
harmony to build the Kingdom of God. We recognise and celebrate the enrichment, which comes
from diversity of cultures and races. We recognise the importance of helping students to value and
understand their own ethnic identity and cultural heritage, as well as helping them to respect and
tolerate that of others. We equip our students with a better understanding of the wider-world
context and British values, which enable them to contribute productively to society.
